Why? Because the people who pay them asked them to do it. Improvements means more profit.Why have scientists improved the extraction process for crude oil?
The imporvents are made so oil can be pumped faster, and less energy will be required to pump the oil out, making it more economically.
Help to oil industry:
This helps the oil industry to pump oil cheaper and they could sell it for cheaper.
More oil can be pumped and sold.
Help to people:
If oil could not be extracted easily then it would be more expensive and the price will increase much more than it is now.
The people demand more oil so there must be an efficient way to extract more oil to meet demands for people and some industries.
Crude oil reserves will last few more decades so imporvement by scienctist are still going on and will continue untill it really runs out.
