Thanks michealhobbsphd for your answer. Need more information on how to purify this lipids soluble component to pure clean oil %26amp; possble others thats usable in medical practice. Further, after obtaining the oil, the left over soild, how to make it to powder form?. I think this leech powder is used in the cosmetic development as an ingrediant and in chinese medicine too. You could try distillations, solven extractions with acetone or other solvents to seperate amphipathics. Freezing separations. These will narrow down the class of molecules then you should be able to try HPLC, perhaps a C18 or C4 column.
