Listen to Libby. That stuff is CRAP why would you want to breath those chemicals day and night. If they were in a manufacturing setting ....workers would be required to use a respirator when exposed to them
First of all glade plugins are dangerous.... they are fire hazards. I've seen a report that there have been several house fires that started from them... they get extremely hot and can start fires at the outlet.... I just use febreeze...

What's important to consider in choosing an replacement oil furnace?

We have plans to replace our oil furnace; it is old and inefficient. It is likely that we will stick with oil heat and the electric hot water heater that we already have, which is not too old.

What kinds of things do I need to think about in choosing a new oil furnace? What's important to consider in choosing an replacement oil furnace?
first, is it really a furnace, or is it a boiler? if you have hot air heat, it's a furnace, but many people with a boiler call that a furnace, too. if you have radiators and hot water heat, you've got a boiler, which is what i also have. that said, that is what i can give you some advice about. one thing to consider re; your electric hot water heater is, how much it costs you to heat your hot water with electricity. for not a lot more money, you can buy a boiler that will make hot water, while you heat your house anyways. depending on where you live, that's almost like free hot water, for better than half the year. this is called 'indirect hot water', and can pay for itself in just a few years. you'll have to replace your existing electric tank with a new holding tank, and your new boiler will have a second circulating pump on it, to circulate hot water thru the new tank for heating the water. it's kind of like having a radiator inside the new tank, that heats your hot water. as far as the new boiler itself, look into getting a cast iron boiler. two that i was impressed with were weil mclean, and dunkirk boilers. i would only buy a steel boiler, if money was a problem, or you were planning to sell the house within a couple of years, because they don't last as long as cast iron. also, check with fuel oil dealers in your area, most will finance the job at pretty good rates. good luck, hope this was of some help, and gives you some food for thought.

How can I make replacement oil for room diffuser?

I have one of those room diffusers with the oil that you put the little bamboo sticks into. The oil has now been used up, it only lasted for around six weeks. I would quite like to keep the bottle and reuse the sticks. Does anyone know what type of oil can be used in these bottles? I was thinking of using essential oil and watering it down, any tips would be great, thanks. How can I make replacement oil for room diffuser?
Some stores carry the refill oil.

I believe that Yankee Candle has refillable oil.

If a Yankee Candle is not in your area, or you do not want to use their site, Hallmark and Bed Bath and Beyond both carry their products. How can I make replacement oil for room diffuser?
I am sorry...I didn't read that very well. I was in Wal-Mart tonight and saw a refillable oil there as well. They would be cheaper than yankee candle.

Since the government spends virtually nothing, and the oil monopolies won't say what they are spending and how they will maintain their position when it goes into use, you are looking for a number that at best would be a wild guess.

Many institutions and individuals are engaged in the research.

';A lot'; would be a bad answer, because there should be several orders of magnitude more being spent on it.

How to use the pantene oil replacement complete theraphy? Is this use after or before SHOWER?

You would use it before. Any hair product that has any oils in it is meant to be used before you shower. This is because your hair will be very greasy and gross looking if left in after showering. I hope this helps!

PS: Leave in for about 20 mins or so...I use v-05 hair oil and that about how long I leave it in. The longer the better it'll do your hair.

After centrifugation process on leech oil extraction, how to purify soluble component to pure oil?.?

Further, after obtaining the oil, the left over soild, how to make it to powder form?. I think this leech powder is used in the cosmetic development as an ingrediant and in chinese medicine too. Could anyone explain to me about this solid waste, could it be use further?. Thanks...After centrifugation process on leech oil extraction, how to purify soluble component to pure oil?.?
You could try distillations, solven extractions with acetone or other solvents to seperate amphipathics. Freezing separations. These will narrow down the class of molecules then you should be able to try HPLC, perhaps a C18 or C4 column.

We should limit the extraction of oil?

For you the speed with which we extract oil is morally acceptable? There is some real risk to the environment and our health or are just conjecture?

p.s. know some relevant study about it?We should limit the extraction of oil?
At this time when so much of our country's money is going to oil rich countries, it only makes sense to produce as much as possible right now to bring the speculated price of oil down. • Is it safe/effective to use butane for supercritical fluid extraction of cannabis oils?

My friend wants to make some blender hash but I've been wanting to try and make some blond hash for a while and I read a tutorial online that uses butane. My friend is a little wary about two things, he doesn't want to smoke butane, and he doesn't think it will extract the thc. I am asking A. will butane evaporate like alcohol if we let it sit out for a while, and will the leftover oil be safe to smoke, and B. will it even work? Is it efficient? Are we going to waste thc? are we even going to get any?Is it safe/effective to use butane for supercritical fluid extraction of cannabis oils?
The critical temperature of butane is 153C. You would have to heat the vapor at least that high. Also, you must compress the vapor to a few dozen atm to get a density of about 0.5g/mL. The extracted substance drops out of solution in the vapor when you release the pressure, so there is no need to ';evaporate'; the butane. It would be better to use supercritical CO2, because the critical temperature is only 31C.

SOLAR ENERGYWhy extraction of solar energy is not done in a grant scale so as to substitute Electricity and Oils.?
Coz ppl r too busy trying to find out how to use something which can be sold for a grt money thn give ppl electricity free out of solar energy ... pure selfishness .. but we do hav solar products ..how many r willing to use thn ...Why extraction of solar energy is not done in a grant scale so as to substitute Electricity and Oils.?
I got a grant from the federal government for $12,000 in financial aid, see how you can get one also at http://couponredeemer.com/federalgrants/ Report Abuse

You really need to back up and look at this whole question with more breadth.

Solar cells produce electricity, not replace it. They replace other sources of electricity like coal, oil, hydro, etc. They do not work under trees or in cloudy or overcast weather conditions.

As the R%26amp;D has progressed, the costs of building, installing and maintaining has come down and the use has increased. As the expense goes down and efficiency goes up, more and more solar will be used.

If you can read the links shown in the 'Source' box and ignore the politics and bias about climate and being green, you can gain some understanding on the when and how solar and wind will progress to a greater and greater portion of electrical production.
Up front cost and lack of power lines to areas with vast open land areas and a high concentration of sun. Concentrated solar power (with mirrors)is cheaper than all but coal power. Only problem is most if the cost is in building the project (instead of spread out over 40 years of buying fuel). Enough energy can easily be stored for 2 days in molten salt storage facilities on site for night and cloudy weather use.
In reality, solar energy costs more money than to electric enegry and using natural gas. Instalkling a solar panel for you whole entire house costs over than you could afford a new plamsa TV set. The oils are fossil fuels, easier to get. Same to electrical enegry produced by wind power, water power, etc. other sources that produces these energy.
Where do U think our great supply of fossil fuel comes from. All energy comes from the sun and plants capture it in the process of converting CO2 to oxygen. The plants keep the C and it deteriorates to oil %26amp; gas. This happens all over the world and it is not just the trees but all plants. The plants capture the energy and converts it to oil ,which is stored nature puts the oil in its seed. Like olive oil and even the seed of grass.
if you covered the whole state of NV, we still could not power this country, then when the sunsets, what, we all just sit in the dark
It is being done but still manufacturing solar cells is quite expensive
Its all about the benjamins, when the big guys can make more from alternitive sources, oil will be illegal!!!

With the extraction of oil, what is the end result? ?

We use oil in engines to cool and maintain, however once we have exhausted this natural commodity, will it have any effect underground with tectonic plates, heat and the like? With the extraction of oil, what is the end result? ?
    Very interesting question.

The oil and gas extrated from underground wells is not like drawing water from a water well or getting water from a hand pump. The oil / gas is floating over water. It is enclosed in between non-porous rocks. When a hole is drilled gas / oil gushes out due to pressure of the gas. If it does not come out of its own water is pumped in to push out oil. Therefore, water takes up place of oil / gas and there vaccuum is not created. So collapsing of void (empty cavity) is unlikely as it does not exists as water fill up the empty space. With the extraction of oil, what is the end result? ?
No nothing like that, with oil we don't actually need it. Yes we want it for cars etc but we don't need cars we can walk to places. Yes transport is easier and me n everyone else prefers it but we won't die without oil it'll just be difficult without it, but when we find a renewable source or develop a non-oil running machines and cars we'll be fine
No it wont, because the oil isnt in a lake under the ground like most people think. The oil is stored in something called ';sandstone';. Its a type of rock with tiny holes in it and in those holes there are Oil. So it wont have any effect on our geology.
Hey! I read this article, it was on the first page of Yahoo! and some scientists have substituted diesel fuel with COFFEE! Look the article up, it is so interesting.

Oil and Gas extraction industry - Developments due to ';green issue';?

I would like to know how the whole ';going green'; debate has affected an invasive industry such as oil and gas extraction. Are there any innovations that make it less invasive? Any regulations that companies can only extract so much? Do oil extracting companies follow a code of conduct?Oil and Gas extraction industry - Developments due to ';green issue';?
Yes there is. There is some amazing work being done here in Alaska where oil is really the lifeblood of the state. We have many oil producers here and the strictest of environmental standards and highest expectations of the oil producers to be good stewards of our land. One of the ways the producers are helping to keep the impact to a minimum is called directional drilling. It's a method where they set up a drilling rig on a very small parcel of land (the average is 40 acres) and the drill with 3 to 8 drill bits from the same rig. They can make the bits go in different directions and even reach oil that is 20 miles or more off the coast under the north Pacific ocean from a platform on land. The oil producers also have major programs to study wildlife and have biologists who's job it is to work with the State and federal government to assure the operations do not have any adverse affect on caribou, birds, polar bears, fish and any other wildlife. Many people are cynical and bash these oil companies but I can tell you from first hand experience they work really hard to do the best possible job and take the environmental concerns very seriously here in Alaska. People who care for the environment should want oil produced here because it's done cleaner here than any other place in the world.Oil and Gas extraction industry - Developments due to ';green issue';?
    none whatsoever.

its all about you and me (the demand side of the equation). if we can reduce are use of fossil fuel then the oil and gas extraction people will not extract as much. however the population of the world is growing and the chinese and indians are starting to live like americans. the issue is PEAK OIL soon (right now), from what i hear, the pressure of oil underground is starting to go down so that means we wont be able to extract it as fast as we are right now. if this is indeed true then i think its fair to say that we are totally f***ed :)

enjoy life before heavy inflation and chaos hits
The lies of the greenies have caused price rises, shortages, and massive Additional costs of producing ENERGY.These nutters have no idea of the number of deaths their causing through green ideology.
some cars company's like Honda and Ford are trying to make car engines get a lot more millage with the gas.

or hybrids which run on e-85 which is only 15% gasoline.
They calculate how to extend the life of the oil well. Yes but mostly just to keep U supplied. These people are some of the best Eng there are so they are trying every thing to keep us supplied.
    Is this a homework question????

soluble component - get boiling point and then condense the vapor.

solid component - put it an oven an have the moisture evaporated, without burning it, the dry material can be crushed with a mortar.

We should limit the extraction of oil?

For you the speed with which we extract oil is morally acceptable? There is some real risk to the environment and our health or are just conjecture?

p.s. know some relevant study about it?We should limit the extraction of oil?
Limiting the extraction of oil would increase prices and slow the economy - which is the last thing the Global Warming skeptics want and of course some political parties and the oil companies. There aren't enough alternatives out there yet that can be used over large areas - it isn't an economically viable option, yet.

Our hunger for oil is terrible, the US government authorized oil exploration and extraction in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska. The oil reserves is just a few months worth of supply for the US. This to me, is unacceptable, in areas of broad biodiversity and all of the already protected areas, there should definately be limited extraction of oil - limited to the point that it would illegal to mine in such areas.

More areas need to protected in North America certainly. Alaska may be oil rich but it's also the USA's last area of vast wildrness rich in biodiversity.

    Similar happens in Canada

There is great risk to the environment from such exploration of fossil fuels. I.e. Strip Mining the oil sands in Alberta Canada. Lush boreal forest is taken up (and I would hope the wood is used for house building) to expose the oil sands where the extraction begins.

Yes, I think there should be a limit on the extraction of oil, but until there is a viable alternative it is very unlikely to happen.

Relevant studies are listed in the sources below.

    Here are some facts:

Oil sands mining is licensed to use twice the amount of fresh water that the entire city of Calgary uses in a year.

    - At least 90% of the fresh water used in the oil sands ends up in ends up in tailing ponds so toxic that propane cannons are used to keep ducks from landing in them.

Processing the oil sands uses enough natural gas in a day to heat 3 million homes in Canada

The toxic tailing ponds are considered one of the largest human-made structures in the world. The ponds span 50 square kilometers and can be seen from space.

Producing a barrel of oil from the oil sands produces three times more greenhouse gas emissions than a barrel of conventional oil.We should limit the extraction of oil?
Alot of people who are to do with this industry, have said that there is LOADS of oil, and it won't be running out any time soon.

There's only one 'decent' argument, and it can't even be proved.

Which is the theory of global warming being linked with Carbon Dioxide.

As crude oil is a Hydrocarbon, fractioning it, cracking it, and burning it for fuel all release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Global warming, and carbon dioxide are supposedly linked, but it cannot be proved.

Something like 30% of the scientists involved with this debate don't believe it has any relevance to CO2.
We all have our own ideas about oil and its production. I for one wish the stuff was never discovered. Many millions have died over the stuff. Yes it is dangerous in many ways to the human, animal and plant life of the planet. More dangerous if it is in ones country and the bigwigs want it. It is a sad state of affairs.
